Why blog about art?

I love art.

I believe it is everywhere, I see art in cereal box design.

In 2010 I started to follow my passion for art and began a formal study of Art History. In 2011 I begin my classes at George Mason University with the goal of earning a master’s in art history. On this journey I find new pieces of art or artists that I want to share with others who are interested in art as well. It amazes me the artists that I never knew about and how little I knew about others. This blog is my way of sharing these artist, helping to promote them and to collect these remarkable pieces in one place.

So what is in the name? In Art Talk by Cindy Nemser, the artist Audrey Flack said the phrase “concepts of beauty and ugliness” and it stuck in my head. Art is about both beauty and ugliness, and each individual has their own concept of what is beauty and what is not. Sometimes ugly can be very beautiful.

I have gathered all the information in the blog through a range of places, and in many cases over many years of reading and interest.  I have made all effort to provide sources I have consulted.
